| What is The Road to Epic? |
The Road to Epic is a personal project where, for one year, I will develop and hone my art skills to reach a level comparable, if not surpassing, the entry-level expectations and qualifications of game development studio, Epic Games.
For one year, starting May 1st, 2010, I will work towards bettering myself in areas such as 2D lighting and rendering, general anatomy, ZBrush, and knowledge of the Unreal Development Kit (UDK). |
| Why Epic? |
I chose Epic Games as a milestone due to their outstanding development history and industry-leading graphics standards. Unreal Engine 3 helped many game companies in this console-focused generation reach their production goals on time and on budget. I enjoy Epic's games and would enjoy contributing to development of their future products.
I'm most familiar with the art production pipeline from Epic and definitely have a good head start for this project of mine.
While my ultimate goal is to have a strong enough portfolio to hold my own at Epic Games, the skills gained will be applicable to many other top-tier studios such as Valve, iD, and Insomniac, just to name a few. I love video games, and you're all great in my book. |
